PROGRAM COORDINATOR POSITION IN EARTHQUAKE DISASTER SCIENCE

The Turkish–Japanese Science and Technology University (TJU) invites applications for a full-time Professor position to serve as Program Coordinator for its newly established Earthquake Disaster Science Program. This position plays a key role in coordinating the academic, research, and administrative operations of the program, ensuring alignment with TJU’s mission to advance global excellence in earthquake science, engineering, and disaster risk reduction through Turkish–Japanese collaboration.

The Program Coordinator will work closely with TJU’s academic leadership, faculty members, and institutional partners to oversee program development, curriculum implementation, research coordination, and outreach activities. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, interdisciplinary understanding, and international experience in higher education and/or research environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational and research activities within the Earthquake Disaster Science Program.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among faculty members, researchers, and administrative units in Türkiye and Japan.
  • Support the development, accreditation, and continuous improvement of graduate curricula.
  • Contribute to the planning of laboratories and research facilities during the university’s establishment phase, in coordination with relevant offices and partners.
  • Manage research collaborations, funding applications, and reporting processes in coordination with TJU’s offices responsible for research and academic affairs.
  • Oversee academic events, student engagement, and program-level performance tracking.
  • Contribute to international partnership development and represent the program in external communications and collaborative initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Earthquake Engineering, Civil Engineering, Geophysics, Disaster Management, or a closely related field.
  • Proven experience in academic coordination, research management, or international collaboration projects.
  • A strong record of scholarly excellence demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and international research recognition.
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in joint academic programs or international higher education institutions.
  • Familiarity with institutional accreditation processes, curriculum development, graduate mentoring, and academic quality assurance systems.
  • Understanding of project-based research management and grant administration.
  • A collaborative mindset and an interest in interdisciplinary research with tangible societal impact.
  • Experience collaborating with Japanese researchers or familiarity with Japanese academic/research environments.
