Educational Approach

The program is structured with a three-year, intensive, research- and application-based approach to environmental engineering education. Fundamental engineering, mathematics, and environmental science courses are integrated with field work, laboratory applications, numerical modeling studies, and project studios. From the early stages of their education, students gain experience developing engineering solutions for environmental systems using real environmental datasets, climate observation data, and case studies.

The program includes two mandatory summer semesters structured around field applications, industry and public sector internships, research projects, or entrepreneurial activities focused on environmental and climate technologies, aiming to establish a strong and lasting connection between students and real-world problems. This educational approach aims to train graduates to be research-oriented environmental engineers who possess not only technical knowledge and engineering skills, but also competencies in systems thinking, analytical problem-solving, working with uncertainty, ethical responsibility, and interdisciplinary communication.
