Prof. Dr. Mesut Güner

Prof. Dr. Mesut GÜNER received his bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Naval Architecture and Marine Sciences, in 1988. He earned his master’s degree in 1989 from Newcastle University in the United Kingdom and completed his doctoral studies at the same institution in 1994.

He began his academic career as an assistant professor at Yıldız Technical University, where he was promoted to the rank of professor in 2001 within the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Prof. Dr. Güner has played significant roles as a coordinator and consultant in various industrial projects and has served as a board member for several companies.

He has held numerous prestigious positions, including membership in the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA), vice-rectorship, founding rectorship at a foundation university, technology transfer office coordination, and memberships in university senates and administrative boards. Between 2016 and 2020, he served as the General Manager and Board Member of Yıldız Teknopark A.Ş. Additionally, from 2016 to 2022, he actively participated as a team leader in the external evaluation processes of various universities under the Higher Education Quality Council.

In 2017, Prof. Dr. Güner was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM). He later served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Ankara University Technopolis from 2021 to 2022. Between 2022 and 2024, he held the position of Rector at Alanya University. In September 2024, Prof. Dr. Mesut GÜNER was appointed as the Vice President of TÜBİTAK.
