
Prof. Dr. İsmail Yüksek
İsmail Yüksek was born in 1963 in Maraşlı Village, Çaykara, Trabzon. He completed his primary education at Maraşlı Village Primary School in 1974, his secondary education at Beykoz Ziya Ünsal Middle School in 1977, and his high school education at Paşabahçe Ferit İnal High School in 1980.
He earned his undergraduate degree in 1984 from Yıldız Technical University, where he also completed his Master’s degree in 1987 and his Ph.D. in 1995. At Yıldız Technical University, he served as a Research Assistant between 1986 and 1994, a Lecturer between 1995 and 1996, an Assistant Professor between 1996 and 1999, an Associate Professor between 1999 and 2005, and as a Professor from 2005 until 2016.
During his military service in 1987–1988, he worked as a Control Engineer at the Construction and Real Estate Department of the Ministry of National Defense. In addition, he held advisory and leadership positions, including Consultant to the Istanbul Chamber of Industry in 1999 and Vice President of the Turkish Engineers Union from 1999 to 2006.
His administrative roles included Chairmanship of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering (2007), Head of the Division of Machine Theory, System Dynamics, and Control (2006–2007), Faculty Board Member (2007), Vice Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (2003–2005), Vice Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (2003–2004), Member of the Faculty Administrative Board (2004–2006), Member of the Faculty Board (2004–2006), Consultant to KOSGEB (2004–2008), Member of TÜBİTAK-MAKİTEG Technical Committee (2008–2010), and TÜBİTAK-MAKİTEG referee (2005–2008).
Between September 12, 2011, and 2014, he served as a Member of the Scientific Board of TÜBİTAK, and from 2013 to 2016, he was a Member of the Executive Board of TÜBİTAK Marmara Research Center (MAM).
Prof. Dr. Yüksek conducted research on vehicle vibrations at Politecnico di Milano under a scholarship granted by the Italian Government in 1994–1995. He also participated in postdoctoral studies at the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) between 1999 and 2000.
He has taught undergraduate courses such as Machine Dynamics I, Machine Dynamics II, Automatic Control, Computer-Aided Drawing, and Basic Computer Technologies and Applications, as well as graduate courses including Vibration Isolation, System Dynamics and Control, and Active Control of Vehicle Vibrations. Prof. Dr. Yüksek has numerous national and international publications to his name.
From August 2008 to 2016, he served as the Rector of Yıldız Technical University. After completing his term as Rector, he was appointed as an Advisor to the Minister of Science, Industry, and Technology, Dr. Faruk Özlü. On December 22, 2016, the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, appointed him as the Rector of Antalya Bilim University.
Prof. Dr. İsmail Yüksek is married, has three children, and is proficient in English.
