The research centers of the Turkish-Japanese Science and Technology University host advanced laboratories that support national and international scientific research in strategic fields.
Earthquake and Disaster Resilience Research Center Laboratories
Structural Testing and Earthquake Simulation Laboratory
It will enable the experimental investigation of the behavior of building and infrastructure systems under various earthquake scenarios. The laboratory should house shaking tables, reaction walls, structural loading systems, high-capacity actuators, sensor networks, and data acquisition systems.
Seismology and Ground Motion Laboratory
It will conduct research to examine the effects of earthquake sources, crustal movements, and different soil conditions on seismic waves. It aims to specialize in earthquake record analysis, micro-zonation studies, geophysical data processing, determining local soil effects, and strong ground motion modeling.
Disaster Data Analytics and Early Warning Laboratory
It will focus on utilizing big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and real-time sensor data for disaster risk assessment. Diverse data sources related to earthquakes, floods, landslides, fires, and similar disasters will be integrated to develop decision-support models.
Smart Cities and Urban Resilience Laboratory
It will develop digital solutions to enhance cities' resilience against disasters and climate change. Creating digital twins for cities, buildings, transportation systems, and critical infrastructures, testing different disaster scenarios in virtual environments, and optimizing intervention plans are among its primary goals.
Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies Research Center Laboratories
Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Laboratory
This will be the main research unit where fundamental and applied AI research is conducted. The laboratory must include high-capacity GPU clusters, AI servers, data processing systems, and high-performance computing infrastructure.
Robotics and Autonomous Systems Laboratory
It will conduct research on mobile robots, industrial robots, unmanned aerial vehicles, autonomous ground vehicles, and robot systems capable of collaborating with humans. It aims to have advanced research capacity in perception, motion planning, control, robotic vision, and multi-robot coordination.
Cybersecurity and Trusted Systems Laboratory
It will focus on securing information systems, critical infrastructures, industrial control systems, and AI-based applications. Controlled penetration testing environments, cyber-attack simulation systems, and secure software development infrastructures must be established.
Digital Twin and Advanced Simulation Laboratory
It will focus on creating virtual models of physical systems supported by real-time data. Digital twin applications will be developed for virtual factories, smart city models, energy systems, infrastructure networks, and manufacturing processes.
Energy and Sustainable Technologies Research Center Laboratories
Hydrogen Technologies and Fuel Cells Laboratory
It will conduct research in green hydrogen production, electrolysis systems, fuel cells, hydrogen storage, and hydrogen safety. Developing different electrolyzer technologies, improving their efficiencies, and integrating them with renewable energy systems are primary subjects.
Battery and Energy Storage Laboratory
It will concentrate on lithium-ion batteries, solid-state batteries, sodium-ion systems, supercapacitors, and other next-generation energy storage technologies. Research will cover battery cell production, electrode development, electrochemical testing, cycle life analysis, and battery management systems.
Smart Grids and Energy Management Laboratory
It will conduct research on the integration of renewable energy sources into power grids, microgrids, demand-side management, energy forecasting, and grid resilience. Real-time grid simulations and energy management algorithms will be tested.
Carbon Neutral Technologies and Sustainable Campus Laboratory
It will develop technological solutions for measuring, reducing, and offsetting carbon emissions. Additionally, it aims to establish a sustainability platform to monitor TJU campus's energy, water, waste, and transportation systems.
Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Research Center Laboratories
Nanomaterials and Thin Film Technologies Laboratory
It will carry out research on the synthesis, processing, and application of nanoscale materials. Thin-film coating systems, nanoparticle synthesis, and surface modification are primary research areas.
Advanced Characterization Laboratory
It will feature scanning electron microscopes, transmission electron microscopes, X-ray diffraction systems, atomic force microscopes, Raman spectroscopy, and other thermal, mechanical, and chemical analysis systems. It will serve as a shared core infrastructure.
Additive Manufacturing and Advanced Production Laboratory
It will research the production of metal, polymer, ceramic, and composite-based materials using 3D printers. The laboratory should house metal and polymer 3D printers with diverse manufacturing techniques.
Smart and Functional Materials Laboratory
It will focus on developing advanced materials capable of responding to environmental changes, sensing, generating energy, or changing shape. Sensor materials, shape-memory alloys, piezoelectric materials, and self-healing materials will be studied.
