Our Rector visited the E-Defense on 12th June (3-D Full-Scale Earthquake Testing Facility) operated by the National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Resilience in Kobe.
E-Defense is the world’s largest three-dimensional full-scale earthquake shaking table, established after the 1995 Hyogoken Nanbu (Kobe) Earthquake to advance earthquake-resistant technologies through large-scale experiments.
During the visit, our Rector learned about the facility’s cutting-edge research activities and its important role in strengthening disaster resilience through collaboration among researchers, industry, and society.
The visit also highlighted the importance of international cooperation in earthquake engineering and disaster prevention, including opportunities for future research collaboration between Japan and Türkiye.
